Give Locally, Change Globally

At Habitat for Humanity GTA we are part of a global movement. Although we build homes locally, our impact is felt worldwide. For every home we build, every family we help, every life we change—we are part of an international campaign to break the cycle of poverty.

Donations to Habitat for Humanity GTA's 'Give Locally, Change Globally' campaign, will help build homes in the GTA, as well as, internationally through our tithing program. 50% of donations will go to Habitat for Humanity GTA's local home building projects and 50% will be tithed to Habitat for Humanity Canada's International Home Building program.

The need for assistance is great in developing nations. Like Canada, but usually on a much greater scale, these countries lack safe, decent and affordable shelter. Unlike Canada though, these countries do not have the individual or corporate donor base to make the dream of adequate shelter a reality.

Inadequate housing is a global problem that requires a global solution.

The Need

Today, more than 100,000 households across the region of Peel, Toronto, and York Region are on the active wait list for social housing. Internationally, about 1.6 billion people live in substandard housing. Join us in our mission to eradicate this housing crisis by becoming involved with our Give Locally, Change Globally program.

International Home Building Program through Habitat for Humanity Canada

The International Home Building Program’s goal is to build at least one house internationally for each house built in Canada. This is accomplished by using tithe donations from local affiliates to fund international development projects through Habitat for Humanity Canada. Projects funded by Habitat for Humanity Canada are generally community-based self-help programs focused on the provision of safe, decent and affordable housing. Often, the programs also have a strong emphasis on the promotion of good governance and the encouragement of private sector development, while improving health and educational outcomes and advancing environmental sustainability.
