Over 2.6 million Kenyans are suffering from extreme thirst and hunger due to the protracted drought, which has been declared a national disaster. The situation is they have lost their source of food and water with the drying of their crops, water sources and masses of people risk losing their lives if no intervention is put in place. Scattered animal carcasses and malnourished people are a common scene. Children and women are seen on the roadside begging for food and water hand-outs from commuters

Humanity First is a registered charity organization that responds to disasters and assists people in need around the world.

Humanity First is a humanitarian relief organization registered in 50 countries that is working on human development projects and responding to disasters since 1995. Based in Vaughan, Ontario, Humanity First Canada is an international non-profit volunteer based charitable organization providing relief and assistance to the less fortunate in Canada and across the globe to alleviate poverty and improve their quality of life. Humanity First also provides humanitarian aid to those affected by natural disasters and undertakes emergency relief operations around the world providing medical assistance, shelter, water, food, clothing and sanitation to affected populations. These have included the earthquakes in Haiti, Turkey, Pakistan, Japan and Iran, floods in Africa and Latin America, storms and tsunamis in the USA, Indonesia and Bangladesh, and conflicts in Eastern Europe. Humanity First also has consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
