Our Mission

To collect, preserve and interpret historical data, records and objects relating to the history of the Province of New Brunswick, and in particular that of York and Sunbury Counties.

About Fredericton Region Museum

The Fredericton Region Museum (FRM) was founded in 1934 by the York Sunbury Historical Society (YSHS). The YSHS has members from all over North America and New Brunswick. In 1959, the YSM found permanent headquarters in the Officers' Quarters in the heart of downtown Fredericton.

The YSHS and FRM remain a non-profit enterprise with a small paid staff and volunteers. They work to create informative exhibits based on the history of Fredericton and central New Brunswick, organize programs and publish a local history periodical.

The FRM is the home of the famous Coleman Frog, the 42lb wonder that lived in the Killarney Lake over 100 years ago.

The FRM is a gateway into the exciting history and diverse heritage of central New Brunswick where the provincial capital is located, and served as a meeting place for Aboriginals, Loyalists, Acadians, and other European settlers. With 12 galleries and a collection of over 30,000 artefacts the YSM is a great place to look into our past.
