Built in 1889, the Art Gallery’s Spencer Mansion was donated in 1951 by Sarah Spencer to become the city’s first public art museum. The mansion offers several heritage rooms for hosting events including a period-restored dining room, reception room and an ornately wood-paneled foyer complete with an elegant staircase. Outside among Japanese maples and Garry Oak trees, you'll find the Gallery’s Asian Garden, home to North America's only authentic Japanese Shinto shrine.

*Note: Due to unforeseen circumstances, SPEAKEASY has been moved to the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria from the previously announced location of The Victoria Public Market at the Hudson.
