OUR MISSION:

To provide and promote the community use of restorative practices.

WHAT IS RESTORATIVE PRACTICE?

Restorative practices build healthy communities, reduces the impact of crime, decrease antisocial behavior, repair harm and restore relationships.

Ultimately, restorative communities are about building community capacity to prevent harm rather than just repair harm after it’s done and promote empathetic, connected, strong, healthy communities.

ABOUT OUR AGENCY:

LCCJ provides services for youth and adults within Lanark County and the Town of Smiths Falls focusing on repairing relationships and building strong communities with restorative practices.

LCCJ provides training to other not-for-profit or community groups on the use of restorative approaches within their everyday operations. By sharing our skills and experience, we help others to benefit from this type of communications and avoid the development of potential sources of conflict.

In 2016, we launched an initiative to work with the 40 schools and youth centres within our service area to help bring the use of restorative approaches to the culture of our school community. Team Leaders and volunteers will work with the school communities to support and mentor them in this endeavour.

The staff and volunteers of LCCJ are passionate and committed to creating lasting change in our community. Our service area includes all of Lanark County as well as the Town of Smiths Falls. Our Board of Directors is made up of 7 professionals who are representative of the community that we serve.
