Barktoberfest is the Lincoln County Humane Society’s signature annual event.  This event was re-designed from the Wiggle Waggle Walk-a-thon, which occurred for many years under the hard work and dedication of the Dog Socialization Volunteers.  It was re-designed to attract a larger audience and ultimately to garner increased community support through fundraising, sponsorship and participant involvement.

This event is for people of all ages and all fitness levels.  Participants can bring their own dogs to run or walk with or they can come without a dog and enjoy the company of our shelter dogs who are available for adoption.  This is a daytime event that begins at 9:00am and generally lasts approximately 4-6 hours.  Participants are encouraged and asked to raise money through fundraising and pledges.  There is a registration fee of $35, which is waived for those who raise $75 or more.  To date we have found the best place to hold the event is Burgoyne Woods and it is held in the fall on the first weekend of October.

À propos de cet organisme

The Lincoln County Humane Society was first formed in 1881 and serves communities along the south shores of Lake Ontario, in the north part of the Niagara Region. Serving over 200,000 people, the Lincoln County Humane Society receives thousands of animals each year at its Fourth Avenue, St. Catharines location. We pursue workable solutions to the most urgent animal welfare issues of our community, which are animal overpopulation and homelessness. These solutions emphasize the mutual benefits of bringing pets and people together. The Lincoln County Humane Society is a charitable not-for-profit organization dedicated to the humane treatment of all animals. It is our mission to alleviate their suffering and neglect, support the human-animal bond and foster an environment in which people respect all living creatures. The Lincoln County Humane Society provides safe refuge and compassionate care for animals.
