About the Manitoba Children's Museum
Since 1986, the Children's Museum has offered a level playing field for children of every socio-economic background – a safe, creative oasis that can help develop the character of a child that in turn will lead to the strengthening of our community. A warm & welcoming 35,000 sq. ft. educational environment that nurtures the power of imagination & spirit of self-discovery, we believe in the potential of all children & values diversity, inclusion, & positive social change.
It costs nearly $6,000 a day to run the Children's Museum. Donations are directed towards our 75+ School Programs, Day Camps, After-School Clubs, special events, & temporary exhibitions, as well as our Access Programs, which bring under-supported children & their caregivers to the museum for free. Financial gifts are also used to keep our building & 12 permanent hands-on galleries in working order. We meet our educational mission 359 days a year & annually average 3,372 members, 256 volunteers, 9,307 birthday party guests, 14,065 rental guests, & 25,803 school visitors for a total of 152,224 visitors. We will not act contrary to the Canadian Human Rights Act & the Manitoba Human Rights Code. An investment in the Children's Museum is an enduring investment in the children of our community.
As the world currently struggles with the COVID-19 pandemic, we find the museum’s work dramatically impacted by this unexpected & unprecedented situation. We are now temporarily closed to assist efforts to contain spread of the virus, & are minus daily earned revenue. Any gestures of support – small or large - would be greatly appreciated at this time of considerable uncertainty. Now more than ever we count on donations from generous supporters like you who understand the important role the Children’s Museum plays in the lives of so many.
We have closed our doors for the benefit of our communities. But our mission never closes. Staff are carrying on museum work at a physical distance so that we may reopen prepared more than ever to make our communities strong & resilient. Right now, our top priority is the well-being of our guests, staff, & volunteers. We are also ensuring that we are ready on Day 1 to welcome our valued constituents back to a safe & clean environment & the full scope of our learning landscape!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! The Children’s Museum gratefully acknowledges all our donors in our materials (with the exception of those who request anonymity).
