A message from the NLSA Chair,

Few people understand the devastating impact that stuttering can have on one's life. To most of us, the act of speaking is easy! We think of something to say, open our mouths, and the words just flow, but for people who stutter, talking is not so easy because they stutter. This is a daily experience for people who stutter.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Stuttering Association (NLSA) was established in 2018 and is a recognized not for profit organization in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The NLSA consists of a passionate team of volunteers who are dedicated to bringing hope and empowerment to children, adolescents, and adults who stutter through advocacy and support. This event was introduced in NL to increase public awareness about stuttering and to raise funds for treatment. To help achieved this goal, The NLSA developed a Bursary Program and the proceeds of this event is directed to this Bursary Program which helps subsidize specialized treatment programs and equipment for children adolescents and adults who stutter and others with communication challenges. The NLSA supports and has been fortunate to work in partnership with The Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (NLASLPA), to administer the NLSA Bursary program.

On behalf of The NLSA, we extend our sincere appreciation for considering financially supporting and participating in this event.

Greg O'Grady, NLSA Chair
