Background

Since 1954, the North Bay and District Humane Society has been a key service provider within our community.  As a registered charity, we rely heavily on donations and a wonderful group of dedicated volunteers.  Our shelter is also guided by a volunteer Board of Directors who oversee our operations.  In addition, the facility has a team of devoted employees who work tirelessly to ensure each and every animal they come in contact with is given the best care possible

Our Mission

Provide, Protect, Educate. This is our mantra and we want to ensure that every animal under our jurisdiction is loved and cared for as all animals should. We realize that there are limitations to what we can and cannot do however the pursuit of this goal is what drives our team every day!  Steps we are hoping to take to work towards this goal include:

- Adding NBDHS staff members

- Increasing in house kennels for animal holding

- Improvements to animal distribution to areas that have vacancy

- Outreach initiatives to travel to regions that have a large number of stray or sick animals to retrieve them and bring them to NBDHS for care and adoption

- Increase supplies/medicine for animals

In order to make these a reality the NBDHS relies heavily on the amazing generous people that make up the community through donations and gifts.  Without these none of this will be possible and our final goals will not be reached.  Donate through Canada Helps and receive a charitable tax receipt upon donation.
