About the Centre
Located in the city of Ottawa, Ontario, the Wild Bird Care Centre is the only rehabilitation centre exclusively dedicated to wild birds and is the oldest rehabilitation centre in the region.
The Centre sees the impact of human-related activities on wild bird populations on a daily basis. Admitting birds 365 days a year, over 3,200 birds were admitted in 2018 alone. Treating the injured, ill and orphaned birds with compassion, and the best possible care, giving them a fighting chance of returning to the wild is at the heart of what we do.
Conservation of a species begins with one single act of kindness, the saving of just one life. Every individual bird's life matters.
No Bird in Need of Care is Ever Turned Away.
We are dedicated to assessing, treating, and rehabilitating injured, ill, and orphaned wild birds for the purpose of releasing them back into their natural habitat.
We provide the public with information on bird intervention, safe handling techniques, and avian injury prevention. We also educate people of all ages about the natural history, conservation and rehabilitation of wild birds, through classroom, community, and public presentations.
