Clovelly Golf Course has generously stepped forward to provide a space for a fundraiser for this noble cause. With the recent closure of Yuk Yuks (where we had a fundraiser planned), it was suggested that RIAC host a comedy Gala Dinner at Clovelly, with fine food and Newfoundland's very own local comics! This is going to be a fancy affair, with an array of global cuisine, a wine bar, and some of the finest local talent that the comedy scene has to offer.

The dinner is from 6PM to 7:30PM, and the comedy show runs from 7:30PM to 9:00 PM. The local comics that have reached out to us in support of our campaign and will be featured in this event are Chris Dunn, Michael Lynch, and Liam Small. Chris Dunn, a member of Stanley Braxton Improv. His company Night Out Productions is producing an NL Comedy All-Stars show at the LSPU Hall at the end of this month. Look out for that event! And in May, Night Out Productions will be producing a First-Timers-Stand-Up show at The Levee. Michael Lynch, the founder and host of “Jokes at John’s”, which is a stand-up comedy night that takes place every Thursday Night at Trapper John’s. A year into comedy, he began opening for nationally touring headliners, and was recently runner up in Newfoundland's “Last Comic Standing” competition. Liam Small, who was crowned NL’s “Next Top Comedian” at James Mullinger’s Comedy Boot camp, just last month! He also hosts a comedy night at The Levee every Wednesday night. Tickets are $75 and are PRE-SALE only. They are available on our website: www.riac.ca, by calling us at 754-4122, or by stopping by O’Brien’s Music Store.

À propos de cet organisme

Refugee and Immigrant Advisory Council is working hard every day to help new Canadians participate in their communities. Well this year, they want to grow! RIAC is raising funds to expand into the second floor of their building, which will include a child minding centre, a conference room, and a community room, which are in need not just by our newly arrived refugees, but by the downtown community as well.
