Annual General Meeting

Brian Jones is a number one fan of Scientist in School and has watched the program grow since hosting his first "WATER" session for his kindergarten students in the early years of the program. From various perspectives through the eyes of a dad, teacher, consultant, course director, administrator and education officer, he has watched the Scientists in School program build capacity. Currently working as an Education Officer at the Ontario Ministry of Education in the Leadership and School board Governance Branch, Brian will share lessons learned and offer insight on how to continue to build the organization. "Leadership is measured not by what you do, but by what others do through your guidance and support".

Jill Colyer is currently the Head of School at the Richland Academy. She was recently the Director of Teaching and Learning at Bayview Glen Independent School and prior than that, an Education Officer in the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Branch of the Ontario Ministry of Education. She also served as the National Director of the Historical Thinking Project, a pan-Canadian educational initiative focused on the reform of history education. Jill was a secondary school teacher and department head with the Waterloo Region District School Board for 15 years, and has been a writer of curriculum materials, courses, textbooks, teaching guides and assessment tools throughout her career. Jill acts as a consultant to educational publishers and gives workshops to teachers and administrators across the country. Her most recent publication is THINQ 4-6: Inquiry-Based Learning in the Junior Classroom.

Jennifer Watt is an instructional leader for beginning teachers and their mentors at the Toronto District School Board. She has been a history, politics, social science and English teacher, and a consultant and coordinator for over 27 years. Throughout her career, she has supported both new and experienced classroom teachers at all grade levels and subject areas in thinking about how to share their knowledge, experience and practices to improve student learning and establish professional communities. Jennifer has a Master’s Degree focusing on the assessment of teacher practice. She is the author of several books, as well as exemplars and curriculum units. Her most recent publication is THINQ 4-6: Inquiry-Based Learning in the Junior Classroom and IQ: A Practical Guide to Inquiry-based Learning.
