On Wednesday, August 31st, Browen, our Seniors’ Recreation Coordinator, is going to rock in a rocking chair for 12 hours, non-stop, to raise funds for Adult Day Services at SFCSC. His goal is to raise at least $1 for every minute he is rocking.
All money raised by Browen's fundraiser will stay in this community and will be used to provide financial subsidies for families of seniors who cannot otherwise afford Adult Care, and to enhance the recreation programs for seniors in the Adult Day Service program.
Everyone is welcome to drop by to visit Browen, have some snacks, play some games, and cheer Browen on! We will even have a few other rocking chairs available so you can rock with Browen.
With an aging population in rural Kingston and South Frontenac, it is important for seniors to stay active and socially connected, especially those who have challenges like mobility limitations or reduced cognitive functioning. The Adult Day Service program offered by Southern Frontenac Community Services serves up to 12 older adults daily, Monday to Friday, who receive socialization, stimulation and care from professional staff, while their caregivers receive a deserved day of respite. We hear many wonderful and inspiring stories from seniors and their families about the value of their experience at ADS.
However, not all families have the same financial resources to afford quality care for their aging loved ones. SFCSC has a very limited capacity to offer subsidies, but the demand outpaces the funds available.
With your support of Browen through this fundraiser, seniors and their families who are in desperate need of senior care may be able to access the ADS program. As well, funds raised will be used to ensure that we have the resources to provide the highest quality social and recreational activities for our clients.
