Aperçu

Fire and Ice is a unique dinner and dialogue evening that features a keynote presentation from Toddi Steelman, PhD, Stanback Dean of the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University and a dialogue with Blackfoot knowledge-holder, Travis Plaited Hair from the Kainai First Nation on how values shape decision-making on managing large wildfires that cross communities and cultures.

When it comes time to making tough decisions about what to protect in the line of fire - what motivates our decisions? Our planning? Large fires that cross jurisdictional boundaries are predicted to be the new norm, but what drives decision-making when officials are faced with large wildfires that cross national, provincial, state and even cultural boundaries?

The evening will include a cocktail reception, cash bar and buffet dinner.
