The 3rd annual Saint Joseph Dinner is a fundraising event providing for Peterborough Campus Ministry in support of the Catholic faith community at Trent University, Fleming College, and Sacred Heart College. The faith life of students at these institutions is attended by clergy, lay staff, events and programs, all of which is sustained by proceeds from the Saint Joseph Dinner.
Since last year's dinner, big changes have taken place in our campus ministry!
The rebranding of our program, now called Peterborough Campus Ministry has recently taken effect, and September saw us partner with Catholic Christian Outreach (CCO) which has truly been a blessing. We now have three full-time CCO missionaries on campus at Trent University who are having a definite effect on the development of our Catholic campus community.
The 2019 Saint Joseph Dinner features a repeat performance by the musical group Rhythm & Grace as well as Student Representative Speakers from Trent, Fleming, and Sacred Heart.
In addition to his priestly ministry as pastor of Sacred Heart Parish on Wolfe Island, our well-renowned keynote speaker Fr. Raymond J. de Souza serves as the Chaplain to Queen's University's Newman House. A fellow at the University of Toronto, he teaches in two faculties at Queen's University, and is a regular columnist with the National Post, the National Catholic Register, and the Catholic Herald. Among his many other accomplishments, Father de Souza serves on the board for CCO and the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs. In 2014, he was appointed Chair of the Advisory Council to the Office of Religious Freedom and in 2016 he was appointed a permanent Missionary of Mercy, by Pope Francis.
