Aperçu

On July 3rd 2016, Vasculitis Foundation Canada will host its 3rd annual fundraiser “BriStrength” Fun Day at the Orillia, Ontario, Couchiching Park- Pavillion 2, on the waterfront between 10AM and 3:30PM.  This annual walk, in the memory of Orillia’s own Brianna MacKenzie Leigh Liddard! This day aims to not only raise funds to support medical research, but also to increase public awareness, and patient education, about vasculitis.  The BriStrength Walk registration includes: t-shirt, souvenir bag, the walk, a group dance, a BBQ lunch, cake,  draws, games and prizes, don’t miss it!

Vasculitis Foundation Canada (VFC), was created in 2007 after the incorporation of the Wegener’s Granulomatosis Support Group of Canada (founded in 1998), to assist and educate patients living with rare and life-threatening vasculitic diseases. Today, the mission of the Foundation still focuses on patients, assisting them to care and take control of their disease, but also to encourage and support research efforts to identify the cause and cure of all types of vasculitis.

The cause and cure for all vasculitic diseases remains unknown, which is why we need your help!  VFC is run by volunteers, so 100% of your donation goes to education and research programs.  Your donation does make a difference by funding Canada’s leading vasculitis researchers

À propos de cet organisme

Vasculitis is a family of about 26 separate, but related, diseases within the larger family of about 115 arthritic diseases. Vasculitic diseases are rare and can affect people of all ages, gender and ethnicity, they are not contagious nor hereditary. Vasculitis is considered an autoimmune disease, creating inflammation of the blood vessel walls, thus reducing the blood supply and causing tissue and organ damage, which can lead to death. Vasculitis is more common than you think, and sadly deaths do occur. For example, Harold Ramis the well-known comedy actor, writer and director (SCTV, Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day, Animal House etc.), struggled with vasculitis in 2010, suffered a relapse in late 2011 and died from vasculitis complications in February 2014.
