This money will go to Black Creek Community Farm's emergency food boxes—the organization has distributed 150,000+ pounds of food during the pandemic. They receive thousands of requests.
The Black Creek community has experienced among the highest rates of COVID19 in our region, at about 16% positivity rates. Many Black + racialized families live in this community, as well as families living on a low-income. As of August, 1 in 3 COVID19 cases in Toronto affected Black people, despite the fact that we make up only 9% of the population.

From Black Creek Community Farm:
"Black Creek Community Farm recognizes the enormous impact that COVID-19 has on our community. We are calling on all levels of government to provide adequate resources to families, to cover for childcare, lost wages, any financial ramifications, and adequate support for people facing homelessness and/or food insecurity. We started a campaign for emergency food boxes, and had such high-demand in our community and in Toronto. Thousands of applications and thousands of emergency food boxes have been, and continue to be delivered to those in need. We are grateful to all those who have supported financially and as volunteers."
