Did you know…?
- The Food Sharing Project provides free nutritious food to over 80 schools across Kingston, Frontenac, and Lennox and Addington, including all schools within Limestone DSB.
- School meal and snack programs are open to any and all students, regardless of need, in a stigma-free, supportive environment.
- The Food Sharing Project receives core funding from the Province of Ontario and support from national and local foundations, but they need to raise 20% of their annual funding from donations.
The Food Sharing Project has food available in YOUR school, for YOUR children to access any time they are hungry. Students who eat nutritious food at school are more engaged in their learning, can focus better on tasks and can have more positive social interactions throughout the day. Research tells us that exposing students to a variety of nutritious food at school can increase their willingness to try something new, which can lead to better food choices as adults.
The Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) of LDSB has chosen to support The Food Sharing Project, which is experiencing higher costs for food during the pandemic, and are also delivering supplemental food boxes to 160 vulnerable families every week.
With your support, we want to raise $20,000 over 40 days, from May 12 to June 18. That’s only $1 for each of the 20,000 students enrolled in LDSB.
Please join your fellow parents in supporting this essential organization, making sure all our children are able to access nutritious food at their school…so they can take advantage of everything their school has to offer.
