Personal message from #aklatclub 's founder:
"I chose this 2 non-profit organizations because they are essential in building a better community for the next generation. As based on the book The Body Keeps the Score by Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, childhood trauma affects the well-being of that child when he/she grows up as an adult. This is where SOS Children Village BC could come in and help through their programs especially through the "trauma informed care" program. Most of the mental health problems could be lessened if children and teenagers are given enough love, care and support.
And as a young adult and an adult, it is important that we learn to fight for the human life (Vancouver Life's Community work) so that in this way, we could value each person's worth and dignity, stop the generational trauma and therefore, make this world a better place to live in."
