Gimme The Best!

Are you missing live music concerts? We are too. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, friends have joined me in creating and sharing music videos, as a way to have fun and stay connected. Some projects have been silly, just for laughs, and some more serious and heartfelt. We know we're fortunate to have the health, time and resources to be creative during a pandemic, while so many are suffering.

So, while designed to be silly and bring a smile, we hope this latest video, Gimme The Best!, can also do something more useful. We hope to raise funds to help Canada's most vulnerable people - those who have suffered most - our indigenous people.

In late May, 2021, Canadians learned the sickening news that the remains of 215 Indigenous children had been discovered in a mass grave, in Kamloops, British Columbia. It was the latest reminder of the horrors of Canada's residential school system, set up to assimilate indigenous children. Canada's indigenous people continue to be among the most vulnerable members of our population, particularly indigenous women and children.

Registered as a Canadian charity in March, 2018, The Gord Downie and Chanie Wenjack Fund was created with the goal of improving the lives of Indigenous people by building awareness, education, and connections between all Canadians. https://vimeo.com/247196482

As an educator, musician, husband, father, and Canadian, I can think of no better charity to support at this time. I hope our "pandemic rock parody", Gimme The Best!, brings you a smile during these challenging times. If appropriate, please share this video and fundraising effort with your friends, family, and social media contacts. If you can, please donate to this important cause.

All donations are handled directly by Canadahelps.ca. Donations can be named or anonymous, and are tax deductible.

Thank you!
