In a recent survey by the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) of roughly 3,000 people across Ontario 84 per cent of adults said they were feeling worried, anxious, bored, stressed, lonely, isolated or sad.
On July 10, 2021 I will be running my first ever half marathon in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association Durham (CMHA Durham). Personally mental health challenges have affected myself, friends and family throughout my entire life. Exercise has shown to be powerful medicine for mental health and running has been mine before and during the pandemic. This is why choosing to support the CMHA Durham made perfect sense while trying to accomplish this exciting new challenge.
The Canadian Mental Health Association Durham is an integrated community mental health and primary care hub that has been providing mental health services to Durham Region for over 60 years. During that time, it has evolved to provide a broad range of services to individuals and their families experiencing mental health challenges, from information and education to case management, psychosocial rehabilitation, housing and primary healthcare. Now more then ever we need organizations like CHMA Durham to let people in mental distress know you do not have to go through it alone. You have a voice and we are here to help. Please support CMHA Durham today for a brighter future in mental health for tomorrow.
