In Loving Memory of Amanda Kantor
Ms. Kantor was a dedicated Kindergarten teacher at LCHDS since 2012. She loved our little school and fully encouraged anyone who would listen to come and try it out. Ms. Kantor was always there with open arms to help her students with any problems and to teach them how to be kind and be a good friend. Often, the reason children were excited and brave about their first independent journey out into the world was because they knew Amanda would be there. But more than that, she was also known for her exceptional teaching skills and creative classroom environment. She spent countless hours turning the classroom into a jungle where dinosaurs would roam, building a spaceship to explore the world, or constructing a large-scale papier mache tree so that the class could decorate it with the seasons. She was often heard saying that “learning should always be fun” and that “you could find an opportunity to teach and learn with everything you do”. Ms. Kantor’s ability to connect with each of her students and instill a love of learning, made their first school experience a positive and memorable one that will stay with them for a lifetime. Her impact reached far beyond her students. She touched the hearts and lives of her coworkers, parents and members of the London Jewish Community and will be greatly missed.
As a tribute to her love and devotion to the children and families in our community and beyond we would like to create a special place where people can connect with her memory doing one of her favorite things. We are raising funds to have a bench placed on the Huron Street Woods trail, that will be dedicated with a plaque in her memory. This trail was a favourite place for Ms. Kantor and her kindergarten children to have fun, get moving, and learn about nature. If you would like to contribute, you can make a donation towards the cost of of the bench which is $3400. Any funds received beyond the total will be donated to the school in her name.
