For father's day this year I am raising money for Bladder Cancer Canada in memory of my dear dad who we lost to bladder cancer in 2010 when he was just 44 years old. He was a loud, ridiculous prankster. Always cracking jokes and laughing. He would bang pots and pans together outside my bedroom door when he knew me and my friends were hungover and still asleep at 1pm. He loved animals, hockey and soccer, spending time with the family, being active and outside, and listening to really, really loud music.
He built me up, supported me endlessly, and always had my back. I am thankful for the 19 years I was able to have with him, but not having him around for so many important moments in my adult life is heartbreaking.
Father's day has had a very dark cloud over it ever since I lost my dad. This year I want to change things and do something positive in memory of him. From June 1st till June 20th I will be collecting donations that will go directly to Bladder Cancer Canada. A fantastic organization that supports people battling bladder cancer, as well as raising awareness of this absolutely soul crushing disease. All donations $20 and over will receipt a tax receipt.
