Crazy times call for crazy measures, so I decided to, well, do something crazy.
Since all my usual summer races are cancelled this summer, I decided to take on a new challenge so I'm virtually running 1000km across Tennessee this summer with 20,000 of my closest friends fellow crazies. Normally I'd run 40km/week but for this I'm going to need to step up to almost 60km/week. Since I'm pushing myself that extra mile, or 12, I figured it'd be a great chance to help out those in need during these unusual times, so please help me help others.
I've selected four charities that I believe are important to support during this pandemic:
Second Harvest: helping to redirect surplus food from the landfill to those in need, helping to not only feed the hungry, but to save the environment too.
The Frontline Fund: hospital foundations from across Canada raising money to provide supplies and support for healthcare workers.
Tony Stacey Centre for Veterans Care: a local not for profit long term care home for veterans their spouses.
Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital: supporting families whose children are patients at this hospital because the last thing parents need to worry about is how they're going to safely support their family while getting their children care.
You can give to one, two, three or all four, its up to you. All I ask is that you give, so that, as the title says, my pain will be other's gain (and trust me, there will be A LOT of pain).
