Raise awareness for our Wounded Warriors
I hold this cause close and personal to me. Last year’s event raised a total of $320 CDN ($240 USD) with all of the proceeds going to the Wounded Warriors Canada Project. This year I would like to challenge myself physically, and mentally. My intent is to complete a 17.7 km (11 mile around the BWI trail) individual ruck mark in order to promote the Wounded Warriors Canada Campaign.
Each year, approximately 1,600 CAF members are released for medical reasons. 1/3 of people who leave the military have difficulty making the transition to civilian life
The majority of Canadians have been exposed to at least one traumatic event in their lifetime. For some, their experience(s) will lead them to develop PTSD.
We know that those who work in our uniformed service professions (Canadian Armed Forces, Police, Fire, Paramedic, Corrections) are at an increased risk for developing an Operational Stress Injury (OSI) like PTSD.
Operational Stress Injuries include diagnosed mental health conditions such as anxiety disorder, depression and PTSD, as well as other conditions that may be less severe but interfere with daily functioning.
