To nurture pregnant and parenting young women and their children as they rise to their full potential by supporting them with access to health services, housing, education, counselling, and other personalized supports*

About Our Charity

Jessie's - The June Callwood Centre for Young Women was founded in 1982 as Jessie’s Centre for Teenagers. Since then, we have helped transform the lives of over 13,000 families.

Jessie's provides one on one counselling, housing assistance, an on-site high school, a health care clinic and a child care centre. In addition, we offer numerous courses in parenting, provide respite care if mom needs a break for a weekend, and a Community Education Program that helps educate high school students about safe sex and pregnancy prevention.

Each year we work with approximately 500 pregnant young women, new parents, their partners and their children.

All of our resources and energy are focused on supporting  them to rise and reach their full potential as adults and new parents.

Through our education, health, and social services programs, we equip young parents with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to promote the healthy development of their children.

*As part of Jessie’s 2020-2023 Strategic Plan, we are working at all levels of the agency to increase our capacity to provide safe and affirming support to pregnant youth of all genders. While Jessie’s has historically been a centre dedicated to supporting pregnant and parenting young women, we recognize that youth of all genders are able to get pregnant. All pregnant youth in our age range (21 years old and under at intake) are encouraged to reach out to Jessie’s to access services or appropriate referrals.
