Ballet Edmonton presents original contemporary ballet under the artistic direction of celebrated choreographer WenWei Wang.
Ballet Edmonton is a contemporary creation-based ensemble of professional dancers under the leadership of Artistic Director Kirsten Wicklund based in Edmonton, Alberta. Each season, we commission original works from a diverse range of choreographers, presenting a dynamic repertoire through both mainstage performances and touring. Our artistic vision emphasizes new creations by nationally and internationally recognized choreographers, as well as emerging voices, with a strong commitment to advancing the work of female and diverse creators. Our productions reflect the artists we collaborate with, shaped by their unique experiences and perspectives.
In addition to our performances, we enrich the community through our outreach program, Art Connects. This initiative provides free education and expressive arts programs to vulnerable community members, including people with disabilities, those living in poverty, new Canadians, and children and youth who lack access to arts enrichment. We aim to continue extending our impact beyond the stage, ensuring that our artistic and community efforts contribute meaningfully to the broader public.
As a not-for-profit organization, Ballet Edmonton is dedicated to providing professional arts employment to dancers, choreographers, designers, technicians, educators, composers, and arts professionals. We support creating new work for the community while maintaining a strong commitment to fiscal responsibility. Our productions remain affordable and inclusive, and we collaborate with a wide range of partners, including artists, sponsors, government funders, and other not-for-profit organizations, with the guidance of the Ballet Edmonton Board of Directors.
Our outreach program, Art Connects, focuses on education and expressive arts practices with marginalized or socially vulnerable community members, including people with disabilities, those living in poverty, new Canadians, and children and youth who face barriers to arts enrichment.
