Established in 1995, VIBE Arts is an award-winning charitable organization committed to providing children and youth in under-resourced communities with high-quality arts education. VIBE Arts works in partnership with youth-serving organizations and works together increase their impact and participation through arts programming. VIBE Arts has a two-tiered program model that works to educate and elevate Ontario’s youth currently spanning from the GTA, to Durham region and Northern Ontario. The first tier is our multidisciplinary Community Sharing Program model which has two branches; school-based and community-based programs. School-based programs are facilitated by professional artists and work with the existing classroom curricula, where community-based programs look at the specific issues, concerns, and joys of the particular community and create programming from that to encourage social change. The second tier is our Mentorship Program which strives to provide career-building opportunities to 20-25 young artists for diverse equity-seeking groups annually. These artists include those who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQ+, newcomers, have physical or mental disabilities, living in poverty or in under-resourced areas, or any intersection of these identities. This program cultivates their careers as current and future creative leaders. We have offered opportunities to over 200 youth artists including employment, professional development, residencies, exhibition opportunities and 1:1 mentorship. We also provide space in artists’ communities for their artistic talents to be highlighted and celebrated.
