The Association for Canadian Jewish Studies / l’Association d’études juives canadiennes is a national member-run organization that brings together academics, students, professionals and others interested in the study of the Jewish experience in Canada across multiple disciplines history, literature, sociology, religion, gender studies, architecture, music, translation, and others.
For nearly half a century our diverse and multidisciplinary community has ensured that all Canadians have access to and can engage with the rich tapestry of Canada’s Jewish culture, heritage and history. Through community-based activities, scholarships, and social opportunities, the ACJS offers everyone interested in Jewish Canada a home to explore and think critically about its past, present and future.
Our mission is to:
Foster awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the Jewish experience in Canada across time and space.
Create innovative and dynamic opportunities for everyone, regardless of where they live and how they identify, to interact with thought leaders, knowledge producers, and culture-makers shaping Jewish Canada.
Integrate the study of Canadian Jews in interdisciplinary and intercultural conversations that highlight the vibrancy of Canadian Jewish life while emphasizing the ways in which Jews are vital participants in the Canadian mosaic.
