AIFF’s mission is to celebrate, elevate and advance the work of Atlantic Canadian filmmakers alongside a curated selection of films from around the globe, inspiring audiences with films that reflect a diversity of voices and perspectives. 

About Atlantic International Film Festival 

The Atlantic Film Festival began as a tiny, grassroots operation in St.  John’s, Newfoundland in 1981, relocating to Halifax the following year.  Over four decades later, AIFF has grown and blossomed into one of Canada’s premier film festivals. Whether for industry, unabashed film lovers or curious first-time attendees, AIFF offers a number of opportunities to engage with film. AIFF is now a year-round celebration, growing beyond our eight-day cornerstone event in September to include AIFF Kids, AIFF Partners and other industry and community programming events throughout the year.
