About B Current Performing Arts

Founded by award-winning poet/performer and stage director ahdri zhina mandiela, B Current Performing Arts has been reshaping the Canadian performing arts landscape for over 30 years. We provide essential space for Black artists to train, explore, and challenge mainstream notions of performing arts while engaging meaningfully with our communities.

Our Mission: B Current manifests magical, joyful, and innovative art to expand the possibilities of Blackness for national audiences. We are dedicated to amplifying and showcasing the diverse voices of Black artists, creating transformative experiences that resonate with our communities and challenge conventional narratives.
