The Bradford West Gwillimbury & District Community Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to improving life in the Bradford West Gwillimbury and District area. The Board of Directors is comprised of leaders in the local community. Today there are 170 foundations across Canada and their combined assets total more than $2 billion dollars. In 2008, community foundations provided more than $160 million in grants to charitable organizations across Canada.
The Foundation assists philanthropic citizens to establish endowment funds and invests charitable gifts into a pooled income-earning fund.
The Foundation identifies areas of need in the community. It provides support to donors to help ensure that grants from fund earnings will have a significant impact on the community and its residents. The Foundation is a "charity that gives to charities."
