The Buchanan Memorial Hospital Charitable Foundation was registered in 1995 with the primary purpose of raising funds for the construction of the Buchanan Memorial Community Health centre. This initial project was successfully completed in 1999 and the 10 bed hospital has since been in operation.The foundation has continued its operations with a primary goal of enhancing healthcare to the residents and visitors of the Northern Cape Breton regions. The foundation was crucial in building an EHS base that services the area. We continuously provide funds to the hospital for equipment purchases. We provide housing for visiting healthcare professionals and in 2022 we launch a bursary program for students graduating high school pursing studies in the healthcare field.
