Our Mission
To assist in finding homes for pets whose owners can no longer care for them. To rescue, foster and provide necessary veterinary care for homeless, abandoned, neglected, or abused Chihuahuas. To match homeless Chihuahuas with loving new adoptive homes which have been carefully screened by approved volunteers, and to provide follow-up support to new owners. To ensure all Chihuahuas placed through CCRT are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and of sound temperament.
To educate Chihuahua owners and the general public about the breed, its traits and temperament, and the special needs and considerations in caring for a Chihuahua. To educate them about the necessity of providing regular veterinary care, the importance of spaying/neutering, and the tragedy of puppy mills and careless breeding by uneducated owners.

About CANADIAN CHIHUAHUA RESCUE & TRANSPORT
The Canadian Chihuahua Rescue and Transport (CCRT) was originally created in July 1999 to respond to the ever-growing need for a breed-specific Chihuahua rescue organization in Canada.
Several people, who had met online in a Chihuahua chat group, formalized their desires to help and the CCRT was born. The CCRT now has Regional Coordinators and volunteers in every province who work together to rescue and rehome our very special dogs all across the country.
The CCRT endeavours to match homeless Chihuahuas with loving new adoptive homes that have been carefully screened by approved volunteers and to provide follow-up support to new owners. We ensure that all Chihuahuas placed through the CCRT are spayed/ neutered, microchipped and properly vaccinated.
We are also committed to humane education and reinforcing the importance of responsible pet ownership. Our fundraising events generate revenue to assist us in every aspect of our mission and statement.
