Our MissionCMHA Peel Dufferin champions good mental health for everyone and supports the full participation of those with mental illness and addictions in the life of the community.About CANADIAN MENTAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION PEEL DUFFERINCanadian Mental Health Association Peel Dufferin Branch began in 1962 when members set out to persuade the Mississauga Hospital Board to create a psychiatric unit. CMHA Peel Dufferin has steadily grown from a handful of staff to more than 200 who facilitate dozens programs, including a drop-in centre, outreach for adults and youth, case management, court support, ACT (Assertive Community Treatment), and 24/7 crisis line. Celebrating over 50 years serving residents of Brampton, Caledon, Mississauga, Dufferin, West Woodbridge, Rexdale & North Etobicoke, which make up the Region of Peel, CMHA Peel Dufferin operates on a RECOVERY philosophy. The CMHA "Framework for Support" defines RECOVERY as "regaining a significant degree of control in one's life and finding a positive sense of self and a meaningful place in the world. The illness loses its central and life-defining position and takes on a more secondary role ...RECOVERY needs to be achieved not once, but over and over again."
