Our Mission
Through a cloistered life of prayer and sacrifices, they pray for, teach and witness to all peoples the primacy of God, who is Father, Lord and Maker of mankind; that by drawing close to God through contemplative prayer and good works, all people may transcend and be healed of the human brokenness, to reach human and spiritual maturity, to live in true freedom, peace, love and joy.
About Carmel of the Infant Jesus
The Discalced Carmelite Nuns of the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel is the only women contemplative Order serving the Archdiocese of Toronto. In silence and solitude, they collaborate in all the active apostolate and missions of the Church with their hidden prayer and sacrifices. They especially pray for the sanctification of priests and all those in need.
In 1992 four nuns from the Hong Kong Carmel made the foundation at the Markham. Today the size of their community has doubled. A permanent Carmel is now built at Zephyr (Uxbridge), Ontario to accommodate the continous growth and works of the community.
