Starbright Children's Development Centre is a Central Okanagan-based charity and not-for-profit agency that was started over 50 years ago by parents and the only pediatrician in the Okanagan. It's goal at that time was to provide physiotherapy locally for preschool children with cerebral palsy who then had to travel to Vancouver frequently to receive the needed services. Over the decades, with the identification of a broader range of developmental challenges, Starbright has grown in range of services but still maintains its mission to provide therapeutic services and programming for babies, toddlers, and preschool children. Starbright provides infant development consultation and support (from birth to age 3), supported child development (to help children with developmental needs to be included in community child care settings), speech and language development, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and clinical counseling. The services that Starbright provides are free to parents and caregivers.
