The Charlotte County Archives preserves and promotes the documentary heritage of Southwest New Brunswick.
In our climate-controlled vault, we preserve over 170 linear metres of archival materials: documents, photographs, maps, moving images, artworks, local newspapers, and more. Our oldest materials date to the 18th century; our newest to the 2020s. Collections cover all Southwest New Brunswick, from Campobello to McAdam, and represent the diversity of lives lived across the region. We collect and preserve these materials for current and future generations to use. Our archives are for everyone.
Researchers of all kinds can use our collections. Most archival materials can be viewed in our research room upon request.
Working with regional schools, we teach students about the use and value of archives. We host visits, give talks, and welcome student researchers at any level. Educational modules based on collections items are available on our website.
Regular events include lectures, workshops, and film screenings. In-person appearances, newsletters, social media, professional organizations, and local television spread our work and our passion.
The Charlotte County Archives is a registered charity (#804323871 RR0001). We receive no regular funding from any level of government and rely on grants and individual donations to operate.
