Mission:

The Darts Hill Garden Conservancy Trust Society is dedicated to preserving Darts Hill Garden Park, located on 22.5 acres in Surrey, British Columbia, as a Plantsman’s Garden in perpetuity. Francisca and Edwin Darts donated their property to the City of Surrey. The Society works in partnership with the city.

Purposes of the Society:

1. to oversee the maintenance and operation of the garden for the enjoyment and benefit of the community and the broader public;
2. to advance education by providing workshops, guided and self-guided educational tours and hands-on training and education in the science and practice of horticulture for the public;
3. to protect and preserve the natural environment, including the native flora and habitat of the Pacific Northwest by collecting, cultivating, exhibiting and distributing rare, threatened or noteworthy species;
4. to advance the public’s appreciation of the arts by facilitating high-quality artistic presentations in Darts Hill Garden.

In Partnership With:

The City of Surrey, with the assistance of volunteers from the Society, worked directly with Francisca Darts in the development of a vision and overall guiding principles for the garden, now embodied in Park Policy. The ongoing partnership between the Society and the City of Surrey ensures that the garden will continue to be managed in accordance with her wishes.

Into the Future:

The Darts Hill Garden Conservancy Trust Society is very excited about the future of Darts Hill Garden Park and the role of the Society in the development and management of the garden. The garden is truly a place of horticultural learning, and a showcase of some of the finest and most mature horticultural specimens in the Pacific Northwest.
