Old planes and young minds! Keeping history alive with the”Flying Museum”
Fairview Aircraft Restoration Society (FARS) is dedicated to the preservation and the sharing of the history of a 1943 Canadian built RCAF Canso Patrol Bomber that served Canada during World War II as a submarine hunter and later as a wild-fire water bomber all across the country. The aircraft had an accident in 2001 near Inuvik, NWT and left abandoned on the frozen shores of Lake Sitidgi. A hearty group of volunteers rescued the Canso, hauled it back to Fairview, AB and started the restoration. Almost ten years, and thousand of hours later the Canso once more took to the skies and now tours Canada as a "Flying Museum" to airshows and school field trip tours in smaller centres. Your help to keep this very import historical aircraft flying would be be very much appreciated! Thank you from the Canso Crew.
