Our Mission

About Family Support Institute of BC Society
The Family Support Institute of BC Society believes that families are the best voice to speak for their own unique circumstances. We believe that all people have gifts, strengths and much to contribute to society. At FSIBC we connect families with each other and encourage peer-to-peer support.
At the Family Support Institute of BC Society we have over 200 volunteer Resource Parents/Peers (RP's) that we provide training to each year. Every one of our Resource Parents/Peers have family members with disabilities and they call on their own expertise and experiences when supporting other families. Our RP's agree to volunteer for FSIBC and connect with other families looking for support in their regions.
Our office will facilitate peer-to-peer connections as well as support families through information and referral and connections to regional and Provincial supports and services.
FSIBC also provides Provincial training and workshops for families and professionals around the province.
As a provincial organization FSI acknowledges that our work spans across all of the traditional, ancestral, and unceded Indigenous territories in BC. Therefore, we respectfully honour all First Nations, Inuit and Métis people, as well as their ancestors, who have lived here and cared for these lands. It is with gratitude that we can live, learn and do our work in the province now known as British Columbia.
