First Met will offer a three-hour Power of Self-Compassion workshop on Tuesday April 9, 2019 from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. The course will be offered by Wally Lazaruk, PhD, an education consultant and Certified Professional Coach.
In this workshop, participants will learn about mindfulness, shared human experience and self-kindness as components of self-compassion, practice techniques and meditations to increase self-compassion in everyday life and learn to motivate themselves through kindness rather than self-criticism.
This workshop will include short presentations on key themes, guided meditations and group discussion. Please wear comfortable clothes.
Wally Lazaruk received professional training in the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program (MBSR) developed at the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He worked as an intern with the Center for Mindfulness, University of California, San Diego and received training in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy.
Fees for the course are $35 and will be used to fund Spiritual Care and Wellness initiatives at First Met. Should you require financial assistance, please fill out a manual registration form and deposit it in the Finance Office. Deadline for Registration is Friday April 5, 2019.
