The HTHS provides affordable, accessible accommodation near St. Paul's Hospital to heart transplant and VAD recipients of BC.
The Heart Transplant Home Society (HTHS), provides affordable accommodation in Vancouver BC, for heart transplant and ventricular assist device (VAD) recipients and their families and caregivers. A typical heart transplant recipient is required to remain close to the hospital for post-surgical recovery for 1-3 months immediately following their life-saving surgery.
For over 22 years, HTHS has been operating two Heart Homes, and has helped house over 250 patients from outside the Vancouver area in that time. Removing the financial and psychological stress of finding housing for this period in the patient's journey is our top priority. This is especially important to ensure the life of both the heart being transplanted and the recipient/patient.
As a completely volunteer organization, 95% of every dollar raised goes directly to our Heart Homes in support of heart patients and their caregivers.
