Purpose: Our purpose is to alleviate financial stress for families in a redemptive manner that allows them to focus on the medical care and well being of their family during a childhood cancer diagnosis.

Mission:  We provide financial relief to families who are journeying a childhood cancer diagnosis. This support allows the family to focus on the medical care their child needs and helps to alleviate the financial burdens that occur during medical crisis.

Vision:  To alleviate financial hardship and the associated mental strains through the timely provision of much needed financial support. We hope to grow to a place where we become the go-to source for families who have a child with cancer in care at children’s hospitals across Canada.

About Helping Families Handle Cancer Foundation

Helping Families Handle Cancer is a Not-For-Profit Organization specifically designed to aid families financially while they are dealing with a childhood cancer diagnosis. Cancer creates an enormous strain on a family, both emotionally and financially. We aim to alleviate some of this stress by providing monetary support to those in need. Having a child with a life-threatening illness such as cancer can put much additional stress on each member of the household. This stress can also cause temporary or long-term physical and mental health issues for the parent(s) and sibling(s). It is our hope that a family afflicted by cancer, can put their energy into caring for their child, instead of struggling to pay bills or ordinary living expenses. We are uniquely situated in that no other organization in our city exists to help families with these specific needs. Helping Families Handle Cancer assists families who have been referred by the Oncology Social Workers from the Alberta Children’s Hospital.
