Aperçu

Join pianist, actor and composer James Smith around the piano as he explores theories behind equal temperament and the story of his three older brothers’ struggles with mental illness: obsessive compulsive disorder, autism and schizophrenia.

Part autobiographical storytelling, part performance art, part tune up, this intimate site-specific show offers a unique theatrical experience and a singular glimpse into the lives of those living with troubled, beautiful, distempered minds.

Join us for this unique opportunity to spend an afternoon in this exquisite private residence. Integral House has won several architectural awards, including a 2012 Governor-General's Medal in Architecture and the American Institute of Architects: Honor Award, Interior Architecture, 2012.

"[Integral House is] one of the most important private houses built in North America." - Museum of Modern Art

Outside the March is igniting a new generation of audiences by offering unforgettable experiences in unconventional spaces—redefining where, how and for whom theatre takes place. We create work that is: 1) IMMERSIVE: We offer full theatrical experiences—personal and immediate encounters that endure. 2) SITE-ENGAGING: We transform found spaces into playgrounds of performance, as well as unearthing new possibilities within traditional theatres. 3) NEW: We introduce local and international voices to our audiences—compelling stories that grapple with our here and now. 4) WIDE-REACHING: We are looking to captivate a wide range of individuals. 5) COMMUNAL: We forge resonant collaborations between artists of all levels of experience and across disciplines, as well as meaningful partnerships within our communityPrevious productions include Mr. Marmalade, Terminus, Passion Play, Mr. Burns, Vitals, and TomorrowLoveTM.
