Pace will present Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®: The International Men’s March to stop rape, sexual assault, and gender violence. This is an annual fundraising and public awareness event that sees men literally walk a mile in women’s high heeled shoes to raise community awareness around issues of men's sexualized violence against women.

This event aims to create a fun atmosphere in order to engage the community in dialogue around issues of sexualized violence against women, a subject that can be difficult to talk about. It is also meant to draw attention to the work Pace does within the community in both education and supporting victims of trauma and sexual assault.

  • Participants are asked to come out on the day of the event to walk a mile in women’s high heels. Participation is open to anyone
  • Participants will pay a $20 registration fee upon pick up of their and their pledge package, which will include an Affidavit (to be signed and returned to Pace), an Event Information Sheet, a Pace Services Information Sheet, and a Pledge Tracking Sheet
  • Participants may raise funds as individual or in teams, seeking donations for their participation in the walk. Individuals and teams will be eligible to win prizes in relation to how much money they have raised
  • Sign in will begin at 11:00 AM on the day of the event, at The Community Village North parking lot. Participants will be provided with coffee and baked goods courtesy of Tim Hortons, along with a Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® T-shirt, and a pair of high heeled shoes (if they have not provided their own). Participants will then be given a demonstration on how to “walk the walk”
  • The walk will begin at 12:00 PM, the route will take participants around the 102 Ave Community Village block across from the Pace Offices
  • Following the successful completion of the walk, Pace staffers will “talk the talk”, providing information on the work they do, and how we can all come together as a community in addressing and ending sexualized violence against women
  • Foot massages will be on offer for tired, achy feet ;-)
  • Participants will then be provided a free BBQ lunch, while Thank Yous, and Prizes are awarded
