In association with St. Matthias Church in Victoria, BC, we are a mixed faith and secular group of caring Canadians hoping to make a difference by sponsoring a Syrian family to come to Victoria. To do this, we need your help now. We need to raise $50,000 by the end of January to help the family for one year to get them started in their new life. Our family of four, a father and mother in their 20s, and two young children, are awaiting final clearance to come to Canada. We expect them to arrive as soon as January 2016. Please read this Time’s Colonist  story for more details on how this project and several like it are being started in the Victoria area.

This fundraising effort is a partnership with the Anglican parish of St. Matthias in Victoria, and charitable receipts ($20 contribution or more) will be issued directly by St. Matthias for donations by cheque,  and from St. Matthias through Canadahelps for online donations. All funds contributed through this page will be received in a separate bank account established by St. Matthias specifically and exclusively for the purpose of supporting the refugee family St. Matthias is sponsoring. Any funds in excess to that need will be directed to the support of another refugee family being sponsored by a church of the Anglican diocese of British Columbia
