About BGC Greater Saint John
BGC Greater Saint John (formally Boys and Girls Club). is a voluntary, non-profit United Way agency serving hundreds of children and youth and their families every year. The Club was recognized as the first Boys and Girls Club in Canada in 1900 and has been operating at our current location since 1954. Through our numerous programs and services, the Club has significantly altered the life outcomes for tens of thousands of Saint John youth and their families.
Our BGC serves over 1,500 children and youth from several hundred families in the greater Saint John area annually, providing them with a safe, supportive place where they can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life. Our Club offers affordable, relevant and accessible programs during critical out-of-school hours when children and youth are most at risk. Approximately 40% of our youth are from families led by single parents.
