ABOUT THE EDEN MILLS AND DISTRICT COMMUNITY CLUB INC.
The Eden Mills and District Community Club operates the community hall in the picturesque village of Eden Mills, Ontario. The hall was built in 1916 in the centre of the community, adjacent to the Eramosa River and village millpond. The Club and its volunteers support a wide variety of activities including community and children's groups, music and cultural events, weddings/anniversaries/family occasions, and community fundraisers.
Canada 150 Challenge! In 2017, the Community Club signed a contribution agreement with the federal government’s Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program celebrating the 150th Anniversary of Canada’s Confederation. The Club is raising funds to match this $118,000. The funds will support our work as we undertake to complete the vision of a ‘Carbon Neutral’ Community Hall, including:
- insulation of the Hall walls;
- professional upgrade of our theatre;
- design and planting of Tim’s Garden on west side of Hall; and
- addition of an electronic control to the Hall’s now accessible front door.
We calculate that these final changes will reduce our carbon emissions at the Hall by a total of 96%. Solar panels installed in the spring of 2017 will also generate 17000 kWh a year, further reducing the Hall’s carbon footprint.
