Eckville Elementary students will work with the artists from Trickster Theatre to create a performance including all students. The demographic area the school resides in is rich in oil and gas and agriculture activities.  Many of our students parents work in one of these career fields. The theme we are exploring for this residency is the History and Development of Oil, Gas and Agriculture in Alberta.

Eckville Elementary School is a small rural school with many diverse needs.  We are a kindergarten to grade 6 school with approximately 160 students.  Our range of students include all socioeconomic groups from low income/no income to high income.

Eckville Elementary students will work with the artists from Trickster Theatre to create a performance including all students. The demographic area the school resides in is rich in oil and gas and agriculture activities.  Many of our students parents work in one of these career fields. The theme we are exploring for this residency is the History and Development of Oil, Gas and Agriculture in Alberta.

We will look at: the discovery of oil in Alberta; the boom and bust cycles; the history of reparations to the land; the development of farmland; the history of farming machinery from horse and plow to tractors; and the future of Alberta’s resources and their effect on the people, the land, and the economy.
